  11.  optimized for faster execution of PKZIP and PKUNZIP. This file contains
  12.  important installation and trouble shooting information.  Please read
  13.  it carefully.

  15.  Zip Manager is a complete Windows 3.0 environment for PKZIP and PKUNZIP.
  16.  It makes working with Zip files a real pleasure. A word of caution is in
  17.  order. The documentation is contained in the file ZM.HLP which is in
  18.  Windows 3.0 help format.
  19.  
  20.  If you are new to PKZIP,'UNZIP please read the documentation that comes
  21.  with these programs.  This will ensure that you get the maximum
  22.  functionality from Zip Manager.
  23.  
  24.  Please make sure that the following files are present:

  26.  ZM.EXE       ->   The Windows 3.0 Executable Program
  27.  ZM1.EXE      ->   Zip Manager Parameter Program For PKZIP,'UNZIP
  28.  ZM.HLP       ->   On-Line Documentation
  29.  ZM1.PIF      ->   Windows Program Info File For ZM1.EXE
  30.  PKZIP.PIF    ->   Windows Program Info File For PKZIP.EXE
  31.  PKUNZIP.PIF  ->   Windows Program Info File For PKUNZIP.EXE

  33.                                INSTALLATION

  36. Successfully Installing Zip Manager
  37. -----------------------------------
  38. You must complete the following steps before running Zip Manager.
  39.  
  40. 1.) Copy the entire contents of this Zip file into your Windows directory.
  41.  
  42. 2.) Check the path statement of your autoexec.bat file. It should resemble
  43.     the statement below:
  44.  
  45.     path=c:\;c:\bin\;c:\utility\;c:\dos\;c:\windows;
  46.  
  47.     Although the drive letters and directory names may differ. As long
  48.     as Windows and the directory containing PKZIP and PKUNZIP are in your
  49.     path, Zip Manager will function correctly.
  50.  
  51. 3.) The PIF Files:
  52.     DO NOT MODIFY the PIF files PKZIP.PIF, PKUNZIP.PIF, and ZM1.PIF.
  53.     Zip Manager's code will determine what mode windows is currently
  54.     using and pass the correct parameters to the appropriate PIF file.
  55.     UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you specify a startup directory in any
  56.     of these PIF files. Zip Manager will find and execute the needed programs
  57.     since it has access to the path.
  58.  
  59.     Please read the documentation which is accessed by pressing Shift+F1
  60.     after starting Zip Manager. It contains important information you will
  61.     want to know about in order to get the most from your program.
  62.  
  63. 4.) Use Zip Manager on a few your Zip Files. If you like it, please register
  64.     it. We have tried to make registration as fast and convenient as
  65.     possible. A tremendous amount of work went into Zip Manager and we hope
  66.     you enjoy using it(and enjoy registering your copy even more)!

  68. 5.) Corporate users must register Zip Manager.  We have a very reasonable
  69.     site license fee based on total number of CPU'S involved.
  70.  
  71. 6.) Please read the license agreement contained in the ZM.HLP file. This
  72.     especially applies to Disk Duplication Companies.
  73.  
  74.                             Trouble Shooting
  75.                             ----------------
  76.   If you are having trouble getting Zip Manager to function correctly
  77.   follow the directions below.
  78.  
  79.   Start Windows in Standard Mode Win /s or Real Mode Win /r.
  80.   Start Zip Manager, select List from the menu.  Choose a Zip file
  81.   to list.  Zip Manager will now run PKZIP,'UNZIP in full screen mode.
  82.   If you receive the DOS message "Bad Command or FIle Name" this indicates
  83.   that ZM1.EXE is not finding PKZIP,'UNZIP.
  84.  
  85.   Check your path statement again and try moving ZM1.EXE to the directory
  86.   where you PKZIP,'UNZIP files reside.  A little experimentation with the
  87.   location of ZM1 will solve this problem.  If you still can't get Zip
  88.   Manager working please call us for further technical assistance.
