NOW 100% COMPATIBLE WITH MS-DOS 4.01! In addition the code has been
optimized for faster execution of PKZIP and PKUNZIP. This file contains
important installation and trouble shooting information. Please read
it carefully.
Zip Manager is a complete Windows 3.0 environment for PKZIP and PKUNZIP.
It makes working with Zip files a real pleasure. A word of caution is in
order. The documentation is contained in the file ZM.HLP which is in
Windows 3.0 help format.
If you are new to PKZIP,'UNZIP please read the documentation that comes
with these programs. This will ensure that you get the maximum
functionality from Zip Manager.
Please make sure that the following files are present:
ZM.EXE -> The Windows 3.0 Executable Program
ZM1.EXE -> Zip Manager Parameter Program For PKZIP,'UNZIP
ZM.HLP -> On-Line Documentation
ZM1.PIF -> Windows Program Info File For ZM1.EXE
PKZIP.PIF -> Windows Program Info File For PKZIP.EXE
PKUNZIP.PIF -> Windows Program Info File For PKUNZIP.EXE
INSTALLATION
------------
Successfully Installing Zip Manager
-----------------------------------
You must complete the following steps before running Zip Manager.
1.) Copy the entire contents of this Zip file into your Windows directory.
2.) Check the path statement of your autoexec.bat file. It should resemble
the statement below:
path=c:\;c:\bin\;c:\utility\;c:\dos\;c:\windows;
Although the drive letters and directory names may differ. As long
as Windows and the directory containing PKZIP and PKUNZIP are in your
path, Zip Manager will function correctly.
3.) The PIF Files:
DO NOT MODIFY the PIF files PKZIP.PIF, PKUNZIP.PIF, and ZM1.PIF.
Zip Manager's code will determine what mode windows is currently
using and pass the correct parameters to the appropriate PIF file.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you specify a startup directory in any
of these PIF files. Zip Manager will find and execute the needed programs
since it has access to the path.
Please read the documentation which is accessed by pressing Shift+F1
after starting Zip Manager. It contains important information you will
want to know about in order to get the most from your program.
4.) Use Zip Manager on a few your Zip Files. If you like it, please register
it. We have tried to make registration as fast and convenient as
possible. A tremendous amount of work went into Zip Manager and we hope
you enjoy using it(and enjoy registering your copy even more)!
5.) Corporate users must register Zip Manager. We have a very reasonable
site license fee based on total number of CPU'S involved.
6.) Please read the license agreement contained in the ZM.HLP file. This
especially applies to Disk Duplication Companies.
Trouble Shooting
----------------
If you are having trouble getting Zip Manager to function correctly
follow the directions below.
Start Windows in Standard Mode Win /s or Real Mode Win /r.
Start Zip Manager, select List from the menu. Choose a Zip file
to list. Zip Manager will now run PKZIP,'UNZIP in full screen mode.
If you receive the DOS message "Bad Command or FIle Name" this indicates
that ZM1.EXE is not finding PKZIP,'UNZIP.
Check your path statement again and try moving ZM1.EXE to the directory
where you PKZIP,'UNZIP files reside. A little experimentation with the
location of ZM1 will solve this problem. If you still can't get Zip
Manager working please call us for further technical assistance.
